Roe vs Wade and the Fate of the Empire

In his book, “It Can’t Happen Here” (1935), Sinclair Lewis wrote, “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying the cross.”

I think this quote can also be attributed to Huey Long or Lewis but it has been around for awhile. It will be for each of us to decide where America stands on whether fascism is coming to America or is already here. One of the most important responsibilities of a citizen is to thoughtfully observe and decide whether the leaders elected by the citizens are wisely supporting democracy or weakening individual rights. Are they paying attention to the citizens’ needs and true to the American dream? America’s purpose in 1776 was to usher in the Aquarian Age and become the beacon for the individual and assimilation of the masses. It is up to us to judge them. Are we progressing or regressing?

As I have written or spoken of empires (and I suggest listening to my Podcast on the fate of empires) empires have a built-in shelf life. The maximum is usually 250 years. Looking back at history, we find that some were shorter, others a bit longer. Very few lasted more than 263 years. The Roman empire was both a Republic and an empire. Using both, it lasted close to 500 years. The British empire ended in 1950 with the loss of India in 1947. The Romanov empire lasted 234 years. The American empire is getting close to its shelf life at 248 years. The final phase of an empire is “decadence”. In that decadence period the empire no longer is in an offensive mood but turns into a defensive empire. (An example currently is the lack of interest in sending American troops into Ukraine–an offensive move.) As we move through the decadence phase, the leaders’ focus is on what is good for the leaders, those in power and not for the country.

It is a pattern of empires to last 10 generations, each 25 years in length. This doesn’t mean America disappears but that it becomes more like England–still an important country but no longer considered an empire. It passes this power to a fledgling nation that is in the process of just opening up a new empire. We probably don’t know the replacing empire but there are clues to its characteristics. No, it is not China.

As we look at the Empire of the United States, we see the same patterns of the empires of old. “The heroes of declining nations are always the same–the athlete, the singer or the actor. The word “celebrity” today is used to designate a comedian or a football player, not a statesman, a general or a literary genius. Past empires show almost every possible variation of political systems, but all go through the same procedure from the Age of Pioneers, through conquest, commerce, affluence to decline and collapse.” The Fate of Empires by Sir John Glubb.

Which brings me back to today’s headline and the Supreme Court overturning Roe vs Wade. This should not surprise. Most likely more cases will come before the Court to evaluate prior court decisions and possibly overturn individual rights. As all institutions in declining empires become more corrupted, the executive branch, the legislative branch and the judicial branch have all become corrupted. “True to the normal course followed by nations in decline, internal differences are not reconciled in an attempt to save the nation. On the contrary, internal rivalries become more acute, as the nation becomes weaker.” Sir John Glubb

We are seeing more books for sale regarding saving America’s democracy. We will see more and more rancor. We will see more and more unqualified leaders and more focus on celebrities, food, actors, angry parents and other diversions such as Disneyland in Florida, banning various books in schools, forgiving student debt and more. Both parties are adding to the weakening. The politicians and their minions, including judges they promote, are part of the acting cast in this display. On the other hand, it is all right on time.

I have said for years that in 2024, women will take on a larger role with more power. It is a gradual transition from today and one which will help America transition from an empire to a country that will become one with other nations. It takes time and a true patriotism focus. Not Fox news or MSNBC, nor woke or critical race theory nor handouts. Pay attention to what you are paying attention to. Each empire brings certain characteristics for the human evolution. It helps it advance. America added the rights of the individual in the collective and the merits of assimilation. In order for humans to advance, another empire must replace it for all of us to evolve.

It will not happen tomorrow but it will over time. Several years. (We are still the empire.) Then, another people with entirely different peculiarities will take its place. Their virtues and accomplishments will likewise be disseminated. Be vigilant and help America transition.

That’s very scary. I have gotten to where I don’t believe anyone anymore. I Thu k we all know what is coming but afraid to think about it. I dread the future and hope I am not long for it.

  4. The Roe. S Wade is about the role of the states. Abortion is not a national matter, not mentioned in Constitution. It is right to leave up to the people in each state and the representatives they have elected.
