I don’t know if you have been paying attention to the latest statistics on the health of Americans but it is a pretty sad state of affairs. We are going backwards in our health and our life expectancy is decreasing. All in all for a highly developed country, we are dismal in the health department. Just to throw out a few statistics, prior to Covid we ranked 29th among the 38 member nations of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. We trailed Germany by 2.5 years, Canada by 3.2 years and France by 4 years. The US has a terrible performance in infant mortalitey. It ranked 33rd behind every European and Asian country. America’s best state Hawaii, has a 7 year mortality difference from our worst state. Even so, Hawaii trailed 25 OCED countries. (West Virginia would have placed dead last, behind Mexico). The Pandemic made it worse because Covid deaths in the US were much higher than in most other high-income countries. The US suffered 332 deaths per 100,000 population compared with France, 240 and Germany, 194 and Canada, 128. The US life expectancy fell to 76.4 years in 2021–the lowest since 1996, basically erasing a quarter century of progress.
Another trend has replaced the Covid calamity. We now have a surge in drug-related deaths. Here again, we lead other high income countries in this category.
Another trend is the surge in obesity. Between 2000 and 2020 the rate of obesity in the US has risen from 30.5% to 41%. It is now the highest of any developed country and a stunning 10 times the rate of the lowest, Japan. It has contributed to many life-shortening diseases and significanly to the rise of type 2 diabetes. This disease now afflicts 13% of Americans.
Another trend is the surge in gun violence. Here again, we lead the world in this area. The rate of firearm homicides per million adults stands at 41, compared with 5 in Canada, 3 in France, 2 in Australia and 1 in Germany.
What can help us wake up to what is going on instead of reaching for another bagel, drink, or large pancakes and sausages?
Maybe we just have to get frightened by a poor diagnosis from our doctor. Maybe more of our friends get more degenerative diseases at earlier ages, diabetes, parkinsons, dementia. Maybe we go to more funerals of younger adults committing suicide, dropping dead from heart attacks and early diagnosis of cancer. Maybe we need to start making our bodies our number 1 priority. If we don’t take care of it, we can’t stay here and we can have shortened lives or, worse, be forced to live in bodies that don’t work very well but we are stuck inside them for years.
I had to take my husband to a pain management center for a nerve block under his jaw bone from years and years of grinding his teeth. A visit to a busy pain management center will give you religion very quickly. I have never seen so many people trying to walk, sit and just move without agony. Some were brought in on guernies. None was a hospital patient. They were just people living in agony as a result of many reasons. You do not want to have to be a patient in one of these facilities. All were out patients. Some return in just a few weeks for another pain reliever. Everything from opiods to nerve blockers to IV drips just to live in their stuck bodies.
What should you know besides common sense and stop buying food items that hurt you, is that you were given a body at birth that, unless birth defects, worked in good order. Over time you have let it deteriorate or took it for granted. Now in the 40’s 50’s and beyond, a certain part of the body is letting you know it doesn’t like your disrespect. We never made it our priority and we thought we could just take it for granted.
What might help you to know is that you always had an area of sensitivity in your body determined by your life path number. This number from your total date of birth, shows you the area of your body that needs special care, attention and respect. Each life path number corresponds to a body part. For example, if you have a life path number of 5 from your date of birth, July 4, 1776, adding all these numbers together and reducing to a single digit, the body part affected by this number is the digestive and elimentary tract. This is America’s life path, 5, and it has numerous digestive problems from colon cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux and any problem related to the digestive and elimination tract. Colon cancer is the 2nd highest cancer in America after lung cancer. So if you happen to be a number 5 life path, you need to baby this area. Choose the best foods to eat for your body part. This gut area of the body is also the nutritional and absorption area of the body. If Americans don’t eat correctly, they will not absorb nutrition which robs the rest of the body of all kinds of necessary byproducts to keep it going. As Americans basically engage in processed foods and garbage snacks, they will continue to deteriorate due to their overall energy of the 5.
Now each of us should figure out our own number, whether it is the heart area (the number 6), the head, lungs, kidneys etc. Find out what your number is and learn what you can do to strengthen that body area. It is critical for your longevity here. Did you know that you can get a “hot” liver from your diet, which can make you hot headed and short tempered. This causes strokes and aneurysms. Americans are getting angrier and part of it is caused by the foods they eat. Since there are more guns than people in the US, it has become easier at times to shoot someone than talk with them. Anger can do this.
As we age in American, we seem less able than other countries to control our appetites and our temper. We then reach for self-medicating drugs with lethal effects. Of course, the US doesn’t care enough about healthy infants, old people or it just continues to argue over the problem. Take matters into your own hands and learn about your body’s unique area of challenge and take care of it. The last thing you want is a body you are trapped in but which doesn’t work.
