Deja Vu All Over Again

Here we are again, another assassination attempt, more historic photos and a continuation of blame, vicious conspiracies and lots of investigations. There is a long list of victims of America’s violent behavior. Candidates both in and out of office are ripe targets. Going back to Lincoln. There have been at least 15 direct assaults on U.S. presidents, presidents-elect and presidential candidates alone; five of them resulted in deaths, according to the Congressional Research Service. We remain true to form. None of what happened in Butler, PA should come as a surprise. We continue with violent behavior and rhetoric. Words matter so I expect there to be more of it in the days ahead.

To top it off, America is going through a very harsh transit that began in August of 2015 (outlier Trump enters as a candidate) and exits America’s birth chart the beginning of the 2030’s. The turmoil will continue through all of the 20’s. I have said this before and it is all playing out. On top of this single negative strong transit, America is simultaneously going through the completion of her 50 year cycle and her 80 year cycles. They don’t always coincide but they are now. Every 80 years America has a major completion cycle and birth of a new 80 year cycle. We can take this all the way back to 1780 and the American Revolution to the next 80 year cycle the beginning of the Civil War to the next 80 year cycle the beginning of World War II. We will be using the entire 2020’s to end the 80 year cycle that began in 1940 and begin a new birth of the country for 2030. In the meantime it will look like America will destroy itself from within–similar to the American Revolution with the revolutionaries against King George and his loyal Americans, to the Civil War with the North and the South to the Great Depression and survival of the country during WW II. What will it be this time? I do not know but it is being set up now to be played out during the next several years. One of the characteristics of this period is the breakdown of institutions, We are watching the Supreme Court rule on cases that will weaken the Administrative state, Women’s Rights and Provide more power to the Executive Branch of government.

What nobody speaks of is the ending of Empires. This is yet another cycle playing out as almost an invisible time clock. Tracing history through prior Empires on this planet, most latest an average of 250 years. Some were shorter. Others a bit longer. 250 was your average. The Roman Empire was a Republic first prior to being considered an Empire. The sum total was approximately 500 years of the two. America is reaching its ending-of-an-empire period. By the time she reaches her age of 250, it will be 2030. Just about right. She may go on a few more years past it but she will end her reign. The British Empire officially ended in 1950 with the loss of India and high debt loads due to both World Wars. America could possibly extend her reign from a Republic to an Empire but she now has weaknesses in the power from China, Russia and others. She is also loading herself down with debt and both parties do very little to try and lower it.

On top of all these cycles we have nominated presidential candidates who are extremely unpopular to the general public. We could call them “Gerontocrats” due to their age and declining abilities. They will both be well into their 80’s by the ending of their 4-year reign. Among rich countries, America is relatively a young country with the average age being 38.8. Most countries that still have political figures in this age group are dictatorships.

Inside America itself, it is saddled with extremisms, social media opinions and lies, a low information voter, and candidates who have become actors. One of the final phases of an empire is when the politicians become actors. They prance and perform in movie theaters, TV Sunday morning talk shows, in front of any camera that will film them and do anything to stay in power and be able to utilize their connections. Too many have become fat on the food that feeds their egos. Currently, there is little compromise or help for the general voting class.

We are also ending the period that began after WWII, the era of the expert. Now we have all these experts telling the population why this or that should be adopted. We have memoir after memoir and talk show appearances to sell the latest expert opinion. This is also part and parcel of the ending of the 50 years cycle. Remember this current 50 year cycle was ushered in with the election of President Reagan. This is the ending period of that era. Notice how his name is raised as the “oracle of the Republican party”. Now that, too, is ending–especially with the Presidency and now Candidate Trump. The old Reagan party has faded away to be replaced by a rebellious group of followers who believe they have been left behind, aggrieved and ignored. Trump has entered their lives telling them he will be their “retribution”–almost Biblical. None of this will be part of the new cycle 6 years in the future. It is living through this period to 2030 that is the challenge. It will be filled with protest no matter who wins.

Another remnant of past 80 year cycles is the issue of slavery, reparations and equal rights. Here we are again looking at Civil War issues. It is not surprising. Through these next several years there will be more consciousness regarding voter suppression and equality. If you look at history, the Civil War had many ending timetables. One of which was the surrender by Lee. There were, however, many other armies that did not immediately surrender. It was a chaotic mess and took years for most of the renegade militias to surrender. Sherman wanted to end the war quickly so there was an immediate need to reunite the country. There were little requirements to the surrender of the troops. They could basically sign a hastily created surrender statement and turn in their uniform and gun. They could keep their horses so they could go home and farm. However, many of them regrouped and created havoc throughout the south. It was a very chaotic time. When the 40 acres where given to the freed slaves, the landowners petitioned Congress pleading to get their land back. Almost all of it was taken back from the freed slaves and returned to the plantation owners. There were no requirements that Confederate flags or statues be removed or made illegal. Hence, to this day we still have controversies over waving the flag and removing statues. This type of continual support of the “Lost Cause” fed into the 20th century and still in the 21st century. There was enormous resentment by the South of the North and it continued for many years after the war. To this day, there is a blush of the Confederate map over the face of Southern states. Nothing today, though, compares to the Civil War.

At this point in time I cannot predict who will win in November. I could probably be safer predicting in October. It is still too early. Neither candidate is wanted except by a base that doesn’t represent the whole of the country. There are many good candidates who are waiting in the wings but not called to dance. We will get out of this 1940’s candidate syndrome (Clinton, Trump, Bush, Biden) but baby boomers will still have a big say for the next 2 years. It is not those born in the 60’s who have the say. The young people are not organized enough to vote. So Boomers will stay very relevant for another few years. Unfortunately, we will have to wait.

Vote, do not sit this election out–even if you have to hold your nose. Remember it is the courts that are playing out the power as well as the executive branch. Changes to the institutions are coming but the old folk will have to move on. McConnell, Pelosi, Chuck Grassley, Bernie Sanders, Diane Feinstein died at 90 with her boots on. Term limits should be part of the new government structures.

Vote!
