During these changing times with a President going out and a new coming in, I am reminded of Abraham Lincoln’s wonderful
gift of giving us our national Thanksgiving Day. We had, at the time, different state Thanksgiving Days but no national one where all of us could celebrate together. He has left us with not only a wonderful national holiday but many words of wisdom that can be shared down the years. His deep faith in God and his sense of justice for all are a beacon for current leaders and soon-to-be leaders.
During his re-election campaign there were many calls for him to resign and withdraw from the race. He answered it with the following words:
“I desire to so conduct the affairs of this administration that if, at the end, when I come to lay down the reins of power, I have lost every other friend on earth, I shall at least have one friend left, and that friend shall be deep down inside me…..I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live up to the light that I have.”
At the night of the returns for his re-election he said:
“I am thankful to God, for this approval of the people; but while grateful for this mark of their confidence in me, if I know my heart, my gratitude is free from any taint of personal triumph. I do not impugn the motives of any one opposed to me. It is no pleasure to me to triumph over any one, but I give thanks to the Almighty for this evidence of the people’s resolution to stand by free government and the rights of humanity.”
He was a “one-of-a-kind” leader. An Aquarian with a 5 life path. Compare him to those who have led the country and the man waiting in the wings. America is still waiting for a great leader again. We have many people who have been successful in making money or winning battles but I miss the quality of greatness in the leadership of this exceptional country. As we enter more deeply into the Aquarian Age and reach the sign of Pluto in Aquarius beginning in 2024, you will begin to see greatness return to our leadership. We still must revisit the reasons for this country’s existence.
“Human action can be modified to some extent, but human nature cannot be changed.
A. Lincoln
